I get where you're coming from and I do sympathize with the family and even with Jeff on some level... but are you to tell me that if you were a news reporter (keep in mind I don't know what you do for a living) and you saw a molestation case (a Joe Schmo from Fitchburg), you would not cover this and keep your audience updated? Of course you would see it as news and report on it. Even more so with the Jeff Smith case. It's no different than the R. Kelly thing or Alec Baldwin's voicemail. He's a celebrity (al beit local) and that makes his life more of an openbook that can bring a certain amount of extra scrutiny/discussion when you mess up.
: I've only met Jeff Smith a couple of times, I don't think that makes us friends. I just don't understand what the apperent obsession about this case is for some people. This poor kid has to live with what happened for the rest of her life. Making matters worse everyone knows who her dad is and I can assume her classmates also know who her dad is. So I still wonder (name calling aside) what makes this a story?
: : Tell me, what's it like being the friend of a pedophile?
: : : What's there to discuss?
: : : : Yes. It's a news story to me and I'm okay with discussing it here. This kiddie stuff is so prevolent right now especially in radio and TV people that hopefully the attention on this message board might stave off just one person from acting on their sick urges.

: : : : : Why? Is it really a news story? The guy has lost his job, let the law and his family deal with this issue.
: : : : : : Anyone got time to attend his hearing and post the details? I can't make it.
