technically its not illegal to be drinking in the studio. The only person who can't be drinking is the person operating the transmitter. Meaning, the person who is signed in on the log to take the readings.
I worked at a station where a board op at the news talk was signed in on all of the stations and doing the meter readings and everyone on the air on all the stations were drinking. The gm found the biggest loop hole he could and would give everyone a beer on fridays except that board op.
