MMI is a bad idea, although I doubt you want to hear that. They have lots of my money and I learned next to nothing form them. The earlier idea of and internship is great. Also a lot of stations have "street teams" The work can really suck but it is an awesome way to get your foot in the door. That's really the key, having the chance to get to know the PD on a professional level. Rarely do stations hire a person who simply applies for a job or asks for one, even with a "degree" from a school.
: Maybe I am lame for posting, but I am about to start Madison Media Institute soon for radio. I know I have a lot to learn but I am wondering what I can do to put myself ahead of the other people who will be in my class. What can I do to set myself apart and give me a better chance at breaking into radio and become successful at it? Any opinions and experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
