It sounds like a number of things could have been happening here. Two of which:
- 1) Automatic system misfiring and on the fritz. Not much you can do sometimes to stop it. You have to let it play itself out or find an engineer to do a reboot if it's really locked itself up.
- 2) Newbie news guy not familiar with things. You didn't say who it was, was it the normal person? Were they new?
