Madison360: Milwaukee radio hosts in sync with GOP agenda

Those of us in Madison may not fully grasp the volume and tone of ultra-conservative talk radio in Milwaukee, but Milwaukee-based writer Jim Rowen says it’s akin to what's happening in our Republican-controlled state government, as in “loud, demanding, bullying, authoritarian.”
I first met Rowen when he was a mayoral aide to Paul Soglin in the 1970s before he was narrowly defeated in his run to succeed Soglin in 1979. His blog, “The Political Environment,” focuses Tuesday on “governance as if by talk radio” and explores the vitriol and apparent coordination occurring beween the GOP and Milwaukee’s bombastic radio hosts.
He writes in part: “Legislative bodies are not talk shows. Leaders are not radio jocks. Public policies aren't topics to be teed up and clobbered by hosts with microphones, selected callers, audio kill switches and seven-second delays.”
