I have more extensive thoughts that I want to post later when I have time but here are two abbreviated versions. You don't last in radio if you don't have a thick skin. Be it on a message board of jealous industry folks or a newspaper or political forum filled with vicious taunters, you're going to get opinions different than your own. You might even get a cup of water thrown at you while broadcasting from the Dane County Fair. Or a letter to your GM from a listener who was totally offended that you used the word tit on your show when their little Jimmy could be listening. Suck it up. I didn't participate in the Vicki McKenna rape fest or post a reply to the Sly on WTDY real name blow-out, but that doesn't bother me either. She obviously is doing something right and wrong in order to attract this kind of attention. Right in the sense that people know who she is and care enough whether consciously or not to spend their time talking about her and even researching her past. And wrong in the sense that obviously she pissed off at least a handful of people to the extent that people don't have a problem dredging up her past and posting her real name and life events (a drunken brawl, a rape) fully knowing that any one in our industry is two seconds away from someone doing the exact same thing to them if they rub people the wrong way.
