MSNBC Suspends Ed Schultz for Calling Laura Ingraham a 'Right-Wing Slut'Schultz has apologized for his 'vile' language

By Emma Bazilian

MSNBC is suspending Ed Schultz, host of The Ed Show, for one week without pay, due to comments he made about conservative radio host Laura Ingraham on his own radio program. Schultz twice called her a slut. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated, said a statement from MSNBC.

Tuesday on Fox and Friends, Ingraham had criticized President Obama for enjoying a pint of Guinness in Ireland instead of immediately flying to the the site of the recent tornados in Joplin. Schultz responded by accusing Republicans of not thinking about their next-door neighbor before saying that Ingraham, who he called a right-wing slut and a talk slut, actually praised Reagan back in the day for drinking a beer overseas, and is now vilifying Obama for the same thing.

Ingraham posted a reply to Schultzs comments on her Facebook page: First, I was surprised to learn that Ed Schultz actually hosted a radio show. Is it only available online? Second, I have to get back to recording the audio edition of my new book Of Thee I Zing. Now Im tempted to insert one additional zingabout men who preach civility but practice misogyny.

On Wednesday nights Ed Show, Schultz apologized for his remarks, for which he took full responsibility.

I used vile and inappropriate language, he said. I am deeply sorry, and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. Schultz seemed truly remorseful, saying that he had not only let down his viewers and staff, but his family as well. I have embarrassed my family, I have embarrassed this company I have been in this business since 1978 and Ive made a lot of mistakes. This is the lowest of low for me.

Shultz added that he met with management at MSNBC and offered to take himself off the air for an indefinite period of time with no pay.
