Probably a combo of both. Lots of stations have open time during holiday weeks and they go commercial free. Also they figure lots of households will be having parties so going commercial free is a nice way to build up non-stop listening aka TSL.

: Secondly: One of their Twitter posts from yesterday stated they were "celebrating our BIRTHDAY today." I believe 2011 is the 30th anniversary of Q106 converting to all-country, but did that launch really occur on January 1?
