Format flip: There will be voices
Nov. 6, 2008 1:09 p.m. | The new WLWK-FM (94.5) won't have any deejays at least until the beginning of the year. But it will start adding some. They won't have a personality-driven morning show like the late WKTI, but there will be voices along with the music.
As for commercials, for a time during the transition, you'll just hear music -- with promos for the new station, outlining its "Lake FM" identity. No ads for a while, not that unusual with major format changes like this.
The last song played before Wexler's announcement of the format flip: The Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye."
The first song played in the new "Lake FM" format: Chicago's "Beginnings."

Format flip: No more WKTI
Nov. 6, 2008 12:14 p.m. | At this hour, WKTI-FM general manager Steve Wexler is coming on the air at 94.5 on Milwaukee's FM dial to announce a format change -- dropping the "hot adult contemporary" music line-up and replacing it with a version of Jack, (although it won't use that nickname) a format that broadens the list of songs so that the playlist stretches from the 1960s to the present.
Gone will be the WKTI call letters and the on-air personalities.
