Obituary for Martin Ray "Marty Kay" Knudsvig

Martin Ray "Marty Kay" Knudsvig, age 46, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his family. He died after complications of a stroke.

He is survived by many, including his children, son, Christopher; and daughter, Caitlyn; parents, Philip and Karen Knudsvig; and sisters, Kristin (Dan) Gavigan and Karlin (Mark) Perry, all loved him dearly.

He graduated from Waunakee High in 1981, persevered his love for recorded family history and started his own business, "Reminiscing". He was a radio talk show host for more than 22 years, known as "Marty Kay" for WIBA-AM. He was also a volunteer master of ceremony for many prominent wildlife banquets. He started his career announcing with the Capital City Ski team. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who will be sorely missed by all.

A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 8 pm. At the family's request memorials can be made at the State Bank of Cross Plains Waunakee Office, 610 W. Main Street, Waunakee, WI 53597-1106, Marty Kay Memorial Fund. Proceeds will be used for his children's education. No flowers or plants please. The family wishes to thank Pastor Laurie Veenendaal for her support and all the doctors and nurses from St. Mary's Hospital for their care.
