Larry King says he's stepping down as host of CNN's 'Larry King Live'

Iconic talk show host and radio personality Larry King announced Tuesday he is stepping down as host of CNN's "Larry King Live," according to The Associated Press.

The news comes not long after he celebrated 25 years on the network.

"I'm tired of the nightly grind," King said in an interview. "I do want to do other things, but I want to stay at CNN in some way. ... There's a case of great mixed emotions."

A CNN spokesman said the network plans on keeping the talk show on the air, but will quickly have to find a replacement when King leaves in the fall, according to The Associated Press.

King's guests have ran the gamut from controversial pop superstars such as Madonna and Lady Gaga to political figures such as President Barack Obama and former New York governor Mario Cuomo. Even though he appeared to have lost some of the edge that made him a pioneer in television, a spot at King's desk remains a coveted position.

Although a successor has not officially been announced, names such as Katie Couric, Ryan Seacrest and "America's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan have all been floated around.
