Lori Lewis Joins Midwest Communications

Former Clear Channel smooth jazz WSMJ/Baltimore PD for the last six years, as well as R&R's 2007 Smooth Jazz PD of the Year, Lori Lewis will join Midwest Communions in the newly-created position of multi-media content manager, effective Nov. 3. Lewis will be based in her hometown: Green Bay, Wis., and will oversee digital content development for the group's 42 radio properties in 11 markets.

Lewis told R&R: "For anyone who ever wanted to go back home, they know how I feel when I say it's thrilling to not just be home in Green Bay, but to be part of a strong, progressive company like Midwest Communications too. In a time where companies are cutting jobs, Midwest is thinking out of the box, creating new positions like multi-media content manager. I will focus Midwest's stations and their Web sites towards an interactive/informational direction; work with sales to conceptualize smart online strategies; and work with programming to become strong marketers towards their dot coms. There are some pretty incredible people in this company and it starts at the top with Midwest president and CEO Duke Wright, his son Michael, as well as VP of programming Jeff McCarthy."

Previously, Lewis served 14 years with Clear Channel, beginning at rock WXTB/Tampa as morning co-host and news director, then segued to middays. She has held similar positions at WGCX/Mobile and KDGE/Las Vegas.

In an exclusive comment, Midwest senior VP and chief information officer Michael Wright told R&R, "As the radio industry is now fully embracing the need to integrate multi-media offerings for our listeners, we must seek out highly skilled individuals who can take those offerings to the next level. Thus, Midwest Communications is proud to announce the addition of Lori Lewis to our company as our multi-media content manager. We look forward to joining some of the other radio heavyweights like Emmis, Clear Channel and Cox in helping to guide the future of radio and the Internet. Lori Lewis will play a pivotal role in that for Midwest."
