: The Q106 Hodag Pickoff is nothing like it was in its glory days in the
: 80s and 90s. There were only 5 bands this year as opposed to as many
: as 12 back in the day. Country music experiences peaks and valleys;
: this is normal.
: What I didn't like was that Mighty Short Bus entered the competition
: and tried to pass themselves off as a country band. All of the judges
: except one were from Madison bands, none with any kind of country
: background. If it weren't for the stellar performance of Rochelle and
: the Red Hot Rattlers, Mighty Short Bus would have won; and it is no
: coincidence that they came in second and that the judges were their
: buddies.
: Let's not have this happen again. People travel very far to compete,
: trusting that they have a shot to win.
: And the Pickoff has traditionally been a family event. Let's not let
: this degenerate into a fixed event to promote irresponsible, vulgar
: Madison bar bands who are not even part of the genre.

Hey Kenny Jay, it takes a little more to prepare for the Pickoff than calling your drinking buddies and asking them to participate.
