Let's look at facts:
1) WWQM declined both books Sebastian was here.
2) WMAD Morning show beating WWQM morning show.
3) WWQM / WMAD virtually bottlenecked in overall ratings (12+ / 25-54).
4) WMAD beating WWQM 18-49.
The way WWQM is positioned is as an aged, salty veteran playing music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. WMAD positioned as the cool kid in the class (albeit at times TOO cool) and proving to win the youth ratings game. WWQM poses no chance to grab younger listeners and WMAD is winning them almost by default.
Quiz Time: 28yr old woman (born in 1982) would rather hear what? a) Eagles; b)Patsy Cline; c)Taylor Swift
CLEARLY the perception (by WWQM's own doing) is that if you want to hear the Eagles and Patsy Cline go there! The default opposite of that is that if you want to hear Taylor Swift go to our competition.
Sure WWQM plays Taylor. But how many people under the age of 50 will sit through the other crap to hear it?
