There's a podcast up from yesterday that's worth listening to. KUOW serves communities in the Puget Sound region, Western Washington and Southern British Columbia. The station is operated by KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio (PSPR) under an agreement with the University of Washington, KUOW's licensee. PSPR was established in 1999 and is a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a community board.:

The Death And Life Of American Journalism
Robert McChesney and John Nichols say journalism is in a death spiral that can only be stopped by government intervention. Even George Washington and Thomas Jefferson supported government subsidies for journalism. The authors join us to talk to us about their new book "The Death and Life of American Journalism."

Robert McChesney is host of public radio's Media Matters. He's professor of communication at the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign. He cofounded the media reform organization Free Press with John Nichols and Josh Silver. They have coauthored several books including "The Death and Life of American Journalism."

John Nichols is the Washington correspondent for the Nation, where he writes the Beat news blog. He's a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times and the associate editor of Madison Wisconsin's daily newspaper, Capital Times. He's cofounded Free Press with Robert McChesney and Josh Silver.
