: I think they should bring Mad Radio back to the FM Dial in Madison. If they hired a PD that has had proven success in similar markets in the Alternative Rock format it could have a good chance. I think it would bring some exctiement back to the FM dial in Madison and give people who like Rock another choice. What do you think? Could it work again and if you think it can what would CC need to put it place to make it happen?

If anyone ever bothered to bring back an alternative to this town it would only be successful with this rather generic gameplan:

A) Fully-staffed, with people who actually care and actually listen to the artists. Tastemakers for their generation.

B) An actual budget. This was the ultimate downfall of WMAD on the 96.3 frequency. NOBODY knew that MAD even existed.

C) Keep the consultants at bay. CC corporate demanded that MAD sound too much like JJO Lite. Why? Because few corporate "programming" managers seem to understand what exactly the alternative format should be. IE - NOT Nickleback, Sevendust, Godsmack and the bevy of other bands that were putty in Randy Hawke's hands that MAD was forced to play.

D) Independent ownership. Because really, none of this is going to happen with the standard corporate outlets that inhabit Madison. Ownership should also base their ad campaign on their "independence" ala LUM.

*Not that anything I say matters, because I seriously doubt that a real alternative station will grace this town again.*
