"Welcome to the latest update of madison.com and its family of Web sites including the Wisconsin State Journal and Capital Times.

We've streamlined the sites' appearance and added some new features. A few areas of our sites are still under construction this week, and we'll be expanding site content continually in the days and weeks to come. Check back frequently!

First, check out the brand-new madison.com sports, a new portal for local high school, college and pro sports. The site will combine the reporting teams and expert columnists of the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times.

Just about every corner of the site has been updated:

The Cap Times has been redesigned as Madison's online magazine of local public affairs and progressive commentary.

The Wisconsin State Journal focuses on being your first and best stop for up-to-the-minute news from the state, nation and world.

77 Square is the gateway to Madison leisure, arts, culture and entertainment, with a top-notch calendar plus reviews from our staff experts.

Social media mavens will want to check out our new community forums, which have moved to an updated system.

And we're throwing open the doors to you - anybody can start a blog or group, public or private, using madison.com's updated tools, for free. The Community Pages sponsored by Madison Gas & Electric have been transformed to an interactive community as part of this makeover.

We've added new advertising opportunities and features. A brand-new system that allows local businesses to target their customers more effectively and affordably is the cornerstone of our expanding suite of online advertising and marketing services.

In the Marketplace, we're launching special areas for businesses and groups interested in health care, home-ownership tips and wedding planning - with more to come.

Forgive us some glitches - we'll be refining features on these sites for the next couple of weeks. We'd like to be able to incorporate your ideas and feedback wherever possible.

Please explore the site and let us know what you think:
