: Just how far has the radio industry sunk? Even RadioShack is walking away from the word "Radio" now. From The Business Insider website today:
: RadioShack Finally Dropping 'Radio' From Branding (RSH)

: RadioShack (RSH) is going to start branding itself as "The Shack," in an effort to focus on its current business selling cellphones and consumer electronics, and to distance itself from its geeky past as an electronics parts store.
: Hard to see "The Shack" as an upscale brand, but perhaps it makes sense, as fewer of the company's customers going forward will have ever owned a radio.
: RadioShack recently announced it would add T-Mobile to its mobile service offerings -- which already include AT&T and Sprint Nextel -- which will put the company in stronger competition with the likes of Best Buy and its Best Buy Mobile stores.
Seriously??? I stopped at a place called "The Shack" a few weeks ago in a rural area in south Alabama. It was a dynamite BBQ dive and I would highly recommend the ribs. No sign of any transistors or capacitors though. But the female "regulars" were friendly...extremely friendly. Not sure what was going on there... Radio Shack now being called "The Shack", well, the laughter will never end!
