I was tuning by the cable channels tonight watching the coverage of Michael Jackson's death and I came across MSNBC with Keith Olbermann in a vest and shirtsleeves in the lower right corner covering MJ's death. So I figured I'd watch a few minutes. I watched for a long time. Here was Olbermann at his best. No knee jerk anti-Bill O'Reilly crap, just Keith doing what he does/did best. Covering the news of the day. It made me very sad thinking what he's become. I remember, what, 8-10 years ago when Countdown first started. It was a fresh, new way to look at the news of the day. Creative, concise, sticking to the facts, just the news, thank you. Then the top brass at MSNBC dangled a carrot in front of Keith and said basically, "get real liberal, real anti-O'Reilly every day". And Keith followed. And his ratings saw a bump. Keith sold his journalistic soul to be Anti-O'Reilly. I just watched 20 minutes of absolutely compelling TV of Keith interviewing one of MJ's attorneys. It was great. Keith was great. Keith on the news of the day. No opinions, no agenda. No crap. Just straight news and analysis.
It was the Keith Olbermann of old and I really miss him.
