: What has been rumored for the last couple of weeks has now been confirmed. Sirius XM will be raising their prices to all subscribers (except Lifetime subscribers) on July 29th. Even though they are not allowed to raise their base rates, a legal loophole will allow them to charge approximately $1-$2 additional as a added surcharge. They are blaming the Performance Tax fees on the increase and are claiming that the added fees will mainly go to the record labels. Sirius XM will be basically increasing rates 13% to cover the 7% royalty. The extra 6% Sirius XM gets to pocket because they are such swell folks.

I have lifetime subscription to Sirius/XM and no longer listen to terrestrial radio and I don't miss it one bit. I only continue to follow the inevitable death of this once great industry on sites like this one.
