: Are you out of business pricks jealous? Would you have taken a receptionist position? My fired ass surely wouldn't have. I know that entercom has hired multiple receptionist persons to be there.
: There are are a lot of administrative assistants out there looking for work and don't get any because of this. Same as on-air DJ's. This whole country is screwed like that. Imagine this phone call....(Harp Gliss)
: (Phone Ring)
: --Hello Entercom Madison---
: -Hi, I'm (insert name here______ from Capitol Records requesting to speak with the MD/PD of R & R reporting station WMMM)
: --Why, Hello, that is me. I'm the receptionist and also the the woman who does everything else for minimal pay here. I also will be taking music calls every Wednesday at this time here at the reception desk. I am happy to be employed. I will also be voicetracking 46 hours this weekend. And be responsible for the entire promotions department--

: Is it degrading to the music industry (because remember, radio is the music industry) When a record rep calls to talk to the music director/program director and the receptionist is that person in a medium market, that is corruption. Go to Utah to preserve that stuff.
I still take the music calls. Just because I answer the phone does not end the 6+ year relationship I have developed with the record companies. They know me and they respect my musical opinion. That doesn't change because I answer " Entercom Madison" Besides, for a LOT of listeners and clients, the person answering the front desk is their only contact with the station. I'd rather it be me than someone who looks at this as a temporary job rather than a career. In my opinion, receptionists should be paid a lot more than they do and I have held this opinion for a long time.
