I listened to half of it yesterday. While I appreciated the idea, it really fell short.

Jeff Davis is a great vo talent, and from what I hear, a good guy. But he is by no means an interviewer. LAME-o. Stick to image vo and countdowns, Jefferson.

Davis was the host "interviewing" past WLS personalities. And the show got REALLY lame when the entire spot on Steve & Garry was :30 seconds long. Then he went to Harry Shear who talked about the few times he filled in for them, and that interview was a train wreck. The last hour sounded more like an informercial for the talk format, than the station's history. And the hype about what a good news station 'LS is today made me puke, considering they whacked their news department a year ago.

Sadly, what made WLS great was it was full of no BS, talented rebels. Now it is more PC than WGN.

: I'm listening to the complete history of WLS-AM 890 in Chicago. They are playing old audio archives, interviews and music today over the course of the past 85 years and their three formats, The Prairie Farmer station (country music from 1924 to 1960); The Big 89 / Music Radio WLS (Top 40 Rock 1960 to 1990) and again as The Big 89 News / Conservative Talk 1990 to present.
