: FCC Announces Inquiry Into PPM Methodology

While I am all for fairness in the PPM rating system, I am very much against the FCC sticking their nose into this issue. Arbitron is a third-party company that radio stations voluntarily subscribe to. They do not use the public airwaves and are not subject to FCC regulations. This is waaaaay out of the FCC's reach and a waste of our taxpayer dollars. Arbitron has continually proven that the PPM system does not discriminate against minority-owned & targeted stations and that the old diary system was the flawed one. The PPM system is far from perfect, but it is a whole lot better than it was before. I would rather see Arbitron put their resources into improving their monitoring & reporting and having an outside party monitor their activities, instead having a great deal of their time & money going to fighting ridiculous lawsuits and investigations by clueless politicians.

PPM is not hurting radio. The constant whining & complaining about PPM is hurting radio, though.

Own a station? Not happy with your PPM ratings? Quit being a freakin' crybaby and fix your station so that more listeners tune in!
