When I moved to Madison in 2004 I was getting 3 MB cable internet for $39.95 a month. By the time I moved across town to a newer apartment I was paying $59.95 for 786k service because I refused to get their cable package so the internet price was raised.
I worked for a local phone company and thus got 4 MB DSL for low to no cost. I had to argue with the tech from Charter who siad DSL speeds are limited to "no more than 2 MB" service and refused to tell me how to cancel. I finally called back and was told to just drop the modem off at Daniels St.
Besides their piss-poor service and on again off again technology their mass-mailings bother me. I wouldn't go back to Charter if I was paid to ahve their service. I have Dish Network and was able to exchange a bad DVR 8 months after I first got it under warranty, at no cost, and with a 4 minute phone call.
