Hot rodders will be revving their engines come June as one of the biggest car lover "road trips" comes to Madison.

The 15th anniversary Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour will start at the Alliant Energy Center June 6, and will wind its way through seven cities in seven days in the Midwest, ending up in Bristol, Tenn. on June 12.

Hot Rod Magazine Publisher Jerry Pitt came to Madison Area Technical College Thursday morning to announce the start of the tour, as well as to encourage MATC and area high school students to think of careers in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, etc. during MATC's annual career day.

The tour is comprised of cars and trucks from all over the country, touring a specific region.

The stops on the tour include the kickoff in Madison on June 6; Racine on June 7; South Bend, Ind., on June 8; Warren, Mich., on June 9; Dayton, Ohio, on June 10; Somerset, Ky., on June 11; and Bristol, Tenn. on June 12-13.

The idea started in 1995 when Hot Rod Magazine staffers took their project cars on the road from the magazine's headquarters in Los Angeles to Norwalk, Ohio, inviting their car enthusiast buddies to come along.

Last year, 2,200 hot rodders in over 1,200 vehicles joined the parade, with more than 64,000 hot rod enthusiasts turning out at the tour stops.
