gun-toating imus just threatened to shoot "coworker" jay severin. its stuff like this that makes it hard to defend the guy.
(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Radio talk show host Don Imus was in Boston today to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. His nationally-syndicated morning show was aired live from The Wilbur Theater, but it's what happened off the air that's making headlines.
WTKK radio host Jay Severin tells an NECN source that Imus threatened to shoot him if he didn't leave the stage.
An Imus spokesman told The Boston Herald that Imus did say he would shoot Severin, but claims it was said in jest.
The two have been at odds lately, ever since Severin decided to stop appearing as a regular guest on Imus.
After Severin left the stage this morning, Imus lashed out at him on the air.
This information is from Matthew Hiltzik, Imus' spokesperson:
"Don was obviously joking. It was clearly a figure of speech. This speaks volumes about Mr. Severin's desperation for attention; that he would pretend to have taken this seriously. Unless, of course, he was afraid he would be shot him with a pencil."
