Two Mount Horeb students among third-place winners in C-SPAN video competition

MOUNT HOREB � A pair of Mount Horeb High School students are among eight teams of third-place winners in C-SPAN�s national 2009 "Student Cam" video competition. Mariah Standal and Caitlin Buhr won for their video about freshwater sustainability, "The Climbing Climate," and will receive $750. Mandy Goldberg and Kally Gagnon, also from Mount Horeb High School, won honorable mention for their video "Poverty in America" and will receive $250.

The 5-year-old competition invited students from middle and high schools to produce a short documentary on the topic: "A message to the new president: What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?"

Top winners will be interviewed during C-SPAN�s "Washington Journal" program starting April 1. The student videos are online at www.studentcam.org.
