The thing about the commercials for legit businesses, if they are paying for the airtime, then where are they getting the money? My guess is Happenings is selling their own commercials.

Happenings Magazine would know a thing or two about sales. Like radio, it's a free source of information and entertainment supported by advertisements.

Never heard of Shirley, but I'm guessing she's just a regular listener. They have a few dedicated listeners and callers.
