Younger listeners which gaining them is one of this consultant's goals, don't even know what Timmerman is. It barely exists and in fact due to the Republican's sequester, it is all but shut down because only 25% of the air traffic controllers have been retained there with the slash in budgets.

But to your point, I think referencing actual cities, towns, and villages where people live does increase brand loyalty. If you ever hear someone mention where you live or work, not only does it make you smile but it's nice to know what the weather is like at places you can actually have a frame of reference to.

When I worked at Entercom oh a decade and a half ago, this was a Brian Kelly requirement - to hit as many local communities as possible in your weather forecasts, scratching them off a laminated list with a dry erase marker and when the next jock came in, he wiped it clean and started his attempts fresh.

I hadn't noticed new voice talent announcing TOH news. I'll tune in at 11 to hear.
