This is a format they've used on 'surplus' so-to-speak AM frequencies and an FM translator. It replaced classic country on one. AM station (so, replace one low-rated niche format with another). On most of the other stations, they took the AM half of an AM-FM simulcast and put comedy on the AM side.

Progressive talk has decent ratings on WXXM (92.1) and seems sure to beat comedy on a ratings and revenue level in Madison. If 92.1 were to switch formats, I think it would be to simulcast one of the AMs (e.g. WIBA-AM or WTSO). Or to move one of those formats to FM. But even in that case, I could see them moving 'the Mic' to 1070 or 1310 if one of those stations moved to FM.
